...stands as a warning for the rest of the world. More than a billion people were pushed into a biometric system that ties food, pensions, and healthcare to one single digital identity. The outcome turned into a humanitarian crisis. Criminals hacked and copied identities, which left families going hungry, older people cut off from their pensions, and the sick refused entry to hospitals. In just one state, two dozen people starved to death after the system blocked their rations. Millions of fake accounts drained money meant for the poor and built a black market around stolen identities. Presented as secure, the system became a means of control and abuse. When daily survival hinges on a single ID, one glitch or one hacker can wipe out a person’s access to the basics of life. This is not progress. It is a model for dystopia.
