Conjuring Hitler, by Guido Giacomo Preparata appeared in 2005 and offered a reinterpretation of the World Wars. Rather than the Allies joining together to defeat a monster called Hitler, it is a tale of English “club men”, the “Milner Group” seeing the astonishing rise of Germany at the end of the nineteenth century, taking Mackinder’s Geopolitical analysis as an alarm. It launched them on a project of preventing any alliance or even rapprochement between Germany and Russia. Such an alliance would have left “the heartland,” as Mackinder put it, in their, the land powers’, hands.
To avoid this outcome they engineered without a thought two world wars that killed 70 million plus and unleashed a wave of atrocities, ending up where we are today.
